Inviting Your Household
How to share your Ginkgo inventory with family members or housemates.
Ginkgo works best when everyone in your household uses it. Here’s how to invite people to share your inventory.
How to send an invitation
- Go to Settings > Household
- Tap Invite member
- Enter their email address
- Tap Send invitation
They’ll receive an email with a link to join. If they don’t already have a Ginkgo account, the link will take them through a quick sign-up first.
What household members can do
Everyone in a household can:
- View the full inventory
- Add new items
- Update existing items (including changing locations)
- Search and ask questions
By default, all household members have equal access. If you need more granular permissions, see Managing household permissions.
Removing a household member
- Go to Settings > Household
- Find the member you want to remove
- Tap the three-dot menu next to their name
- Select Remove from household
They’ll lose access to the shared inventory immediately. Any items they added will remain in the inventory.
Frequently asked questions
Can household members see my personal notes on items? Yes — all item information is shared with the whole household. If you want to keep something private, don’t add it to the shared inventory.
Is there a limit on household members? During the early access period, you can add up to five household members. This limit may change after launch.
What if someone doesn’t use it? That’s fine. Even if only one person in the household actively maintains the inventory, others can still benefit by searching when they need to find something.
