Photos Not Uploading or Saving
Troubleshooting photo upload issues in Ginkgo.
If photos are failing to upload, taking a very long time, or not appearing after you save an item, here’s what to check.
Check camera and photo library permissions
Ginkgo needs permission to access your camera and photo library to add photos to items.
On iOS:
- Open your phone’s Settings
- Scroll down to Ginkgo
- Make sure Camera and Photos are both enabled
On Android:
- Open Settings > Apps > Ginkgo
- Tap Permissions
- Make sure Camera and Storage/Photos are allowed
Check your internet connection
Photo uploads require a stable internet connection. Large photos may fail on weak connections. Try moving to a better signal area or switching to Wi-Fi.
Try a smaller photo
If a photo is very large (taken on a high-resolution camera or imported from another device), it may time out during upload. Try taking a new photo directly within the Ginkgo app rather than importing from your photo library — the app compresses photos as they’re taken.
Retry the upload
If an item was saved but the photo didn’t upload:
- Open the item
- Tap Edit
- Remove the failed photo and add a new one
- Save
Clear the app cache (Android)
On Android, a corrupted cache can sometimes affect photo uploads:
- Settings > Apps > Ginkgo > Storage > Clear cache
- Reopen Ginkgo and try again
