Privacy Settings
How to control your privacy preferences in Ginkgo.
Ginkgo gives you control over how your data is used beyond what’s strictly necessary for the app to function.
Accessing privacy settings
Go to Settings > Privacy to see and change your preferences.
Available settings
Help improve AI recognition
Default: Off
When enabled, anonymised photos of items you add (along with the confirmed item names) may be used to improve our AI recognition model. Photos are anonymised before being used — they are not linked to your account or household.
You can turn this on or off at any time. Changing this setting only affects future photos — previously submitted photos cannot be retroactively excluded.
Analytics and crash reporting
Default: On
We collect anonymised usage data and crash reports to help us understand how the app is performing and where to focus improvements. This data does not contain personal information and cannot be linked back to you.
You can opt out of analytics here. Note that crash reports will still be sent if the app crashes, as these are essential for fixing bugs — they do not contain personal inventory information.
Marketing communications
Default: Depends on sign-up method
Controls whether we send you emails about new features, tips, and updates (beyond transactional emails like account confirmations).
You can also unsubscribe from any marketing email using the link at the bottom of the email.
Data rights
Beyond privacy settings, you have the right to access, correct, and delete your data. See What data does Ginkgo store? and Requesting data deletion for more.
