What Data Does Ginkgo Store?
A clear breakdown of the information Ginkgo holds about you and your household.
We believe you should know exactly what data we hold. Here’s a plain-language breakdown.
Account data
- Email address (used for sign-in and communication)
- Name (used to identify you within your household)
- Account creation date and last login date
Inventory data
- Item names, descriptions, and notes
- Location names and hierarchy
- Tags
- Photos (compressed)
- Dates items were added and updated
- Record of which household member made each change
Usage data
- App usage patterns (e.g. which features you use, how often)
- Device type and operating system version
- App version
- Crash reports
This data is collected in aggregate and used to improve the app. It is not linked to specific inventory items.
What we do not store
- Payment card details (handled entirely by our payment processor)
- Your home address or physical location
- Any data from your device other than what you explicitly add to Ginkgo
How long we keep your data
We keep your account and inventory data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account, we aim to delete your account and inventory data within 30 days, unless we need to keep certain information for legal, security, accounting, dispute-resolution, or regulatory reasons. Backup copies may remain for up to 90 days before being overwritten or deleted.

You have the right to:
- Access your data (export via Settings > Data > Export)
- Correct inaccurate data (edit within the app)
- Delete your data (see Requesting data deletion)
